Character List

 Fjalenar Karjalkarr

Fjalenar Karjalkarr is a Sothbori scholar and the youngest son of an old southern house, sent north on a marriage arrangement neither party has been in much hurry to pursue. Learned in old languages, ruins, and the lore of forgotten weapons, he came to the Marches of the Cheyth seeking answers among its ancient stones. He has found, instead, companions, danger, and more history than any sensible scholar could have hoped to uncover.

Ineia Klorpeimar

Ineia Klorpeimar is the only daughter of a Cheibori noble household near Cheykor: an archer and swordswoman who hopes one day to establish a manor of her own. But she knows that good intentions, a family name, and a little training are not enough to defend a home in the Marches of the Cheyth, where enemies and monsters are only hours from her family’s door. Rather than waiting safely for others to protect what she loves, Ineia has gone out to learn what true defense requires—and to become equal to the responsibility she hopes one day to bear.

Tenuyala

Tenuyala came north to make a name for himself where hard roads, dangerous ruins, and troubled times give a warrior room to do so. He is direct, courageous, and difficult to discourage once a fight has begun. Though he seeks glory, he is more than a blade for hire: he has stood by his companions through time-lost cities, cursed islands, and battles that no one was meant to survive. In a land crowded with old evils and unfinished wars, Tenuyala has proved himself a steadfast companion—and a man willing to meet danger head-on.

Herek

Herek is a Cheibori treasure-hunter from Cheykor, a man whose love of old heroic stories led him first into study and then into the search for the real things hidden beneath legend. The youngest son of a large family, he has spent years travelling, gathering lore, and pursuing the kinds of discoveries that scholars argue over and sensible people leave buried. He served in the relief of Sencankarr under Onerama the Bald, and has since found himself caught in matters far stranger than ordinary treasure: ancient doors, broken time, and promises that may outlast a single lifetime.

Inayin

Inayin is a Cheibori hunter and Watersteel smith from a family long trusted by the Klorpeimars for dangerous work. Drawn north by troubling dreams and the sense that something old was stirring near the settled lands, he is a practical man of the wilds—skilled with weapons, tracks, beasts, and the hard work of keeping others alive. Yet the further the company travels, the more he finds that the monsters haunting Amboria’s old places have ties not only to the land, but to his own blood and family history.

Talari

Talari is a seer and warrior who came north in search of glory, carrying a boarding pike and the confidence to use it. She has the gift—or burden—of seeing more than many people would prefer to know, and she meets the strange with a mixture of nerve, curiosity, and determination. Whether facing ancient tombs, hostile warriors, or the unsettling hints of other lives and other times, Talari has proven herself a steady companion on a road that grows stranger with every mile.
